According to a press release from the search engine giant, the five games coming to Stadia include the Serious Sam Collection, Stacks on Stacks, Spitlings, the Panzer Dragoon remake, and Lost Words: Beyond the Page. Though none of the other four games have a release date or window, Lost Words is set to launch sometime in Spring 2020.
We know also know that Stacks on Stacks, Spitlings, and Lost Words will release on Stadia before other platforms. Currently, there’s no word on how long the three titles will be exclusive to the platform.
While the Steam pages for Spitlings and Lost Words indicate a vague 2020 release window, the Steam page for Stacks on Stacks lists a “First Quarter 2020” release date. Though that timeframe could change at any moment, it’s possible the game’s exclusivity on Stadia could be relatively short. It could also mean it will release on the streaming service sooner rather than later.
In the months since its release, Stadia has been criticized by some for its lack of new releases. The platform launched with 22 games, and now the lineup includes 27. Currently, there is only one exclusive on the service: the quite-good Gylt. To some, the Stadia isn’t moving fast enough, and to others, competing streaming services, such as Microsoft’s xCloud, have already beaten Stadia, even if they are still in beta.
Google says that 120 games are meant to launch on Stadia in 2020, and 10 of those are reportedly timed exclusives. Since we now know about three of them, that leaves seven more. Perhaps one will be Baldur’s Gate 3. We can only hope.
