Grace and Frankie is a Netflix show that focuses on two women who bond after their husbands tell them that they have fallen in love with each other. This comedy premiered on May 8, 2015, and a seventh and final season has been announced, making this the longest-running original series on Netflix.

Since Season 6 dropped on January 15, 2020, we thought it would be fun to take a deep dive into the cast and characters of Grace and Frankie … That being said, these are the other television shows and films that have featured these actors and actresses over the years. 

Jane Fonda As Grace Hanson

One of the stars of this series is Grace Hanson, classy and sassy woman who founded a skincare company and who is portrayed by Jane Fonda. 

This star has been influencing and entertaining audiences for years. In the ‘80s and ‘90s, she released fitness books and videos, and she has also been in several notable series and movies; in 1980, she was in 9 to 5 as Judy Bernly, in 2005, she was in Monster-in-Law as Viola Fields, and in 2018, she was in Book Club as Vivian.

Lily Tomlin As Frankie Bergstein

The other star in this series is Frankie Bergstein, a carefree and artistic woman who is portrayed by Lily Tomlin. 

This star began as a stand-up comedian and off-Broadway performer in the ‘60s, and now, she has also added actress, writer and producer to that resume. She was in 9 to 5, too, from the year 1980, as Violet Newstead. She voiced May Parker in Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, from the year 2018. And she was in series such as Murphy Brown (from 1996 to 1998, as Kay Carter-Shepley) and The West Wing (from 2002 to 2006, as Deborah Fiderer). 

Sam Waterston As Sol Bergstein

In this series, there is a character named Sol Bergstein, a retired lawyer who used to be married to Frankie, who is mentioned above, but who ended up with Robert, who is mentioned below. 

Sam Waterston portrays him, and Sam Waterston is a producer, director and actor who has been in several films, TV shows and stage productions. In 1974, he appeared in The Great Gatsby as Nick Carraway, and from 1994 to 2010, he appeared in Law & Order as Jack McCoy.

Martin Sheen As Robert Hanson

Martin Sheen Ramón Gerardo Antonio Estévez, better known as Martin Sheen, portrays Robert Hanson in this Netflix series, a retired lawyer who is into musical theater, who used to be married to Grace and who is now with Sol.

Sheen has been seen many times over the years: In 1973, he was Kit Carruthers in Badlands. In 1983, he was Greg Stillson in The Dead Zone. In 2002, he was Roger Strong in Catch Me if You Can. In 2012, he was Ben Parker in The Amazing Spider-Man. And from 1999 to 2006, he was President Josiah Bartlet in The West Wing. 

Brooklyn Decker As Mallory Hanson

On Grace and Frankie, Mallory Hanson is Grace and Robert’s oldest daughter, and she has several children with her ex-husband, Mitch. 

This character is portrayed by Brooklyn Decker, a model who has done work with Sports Illustrated and Victoria’s Secret and an actress who has been in television series like Chuck and Ugly Betty. She was also a model in The Devil Wears Prada from 2006, as well as Skyler Cooper in a What to Expect When You’re Expecting from 2012. 

Ethan Embry As Coyote 

Coyote was adopted by Frankie and Sol, and he is now a recovering drug addict who lives in a tiny home on Mallory’s curb, and he is played by actor Ethan Embry.

Embry was Russell “Rusty” Griswold in Vegas Vacation in 1997. He was Preston Meyers in Can’t Hardly Wait in 1998. He was Bobby Ray in Sweet Home Alabama in 2002. He was Carter in The Walking Dead in 2015. And he was Pete Conrad in First Man in 2018.

June Diane Raphael As Brianna Hanson

Within this story, Grace and Robert have another daughter named Brianna Hanson, and this fierce and feisty woman has taken over Say Grace.

In real life, this star, June Diane Raphael, is an actress, a screenwriter, a producer and a comedian. In 2007, she was Mrs. Toschi in Zodiac. In 2009, she was Amanda in Bride Wars. In 2013, she was Chani’s boss in Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues. And in 2017, she was Robyn Paris in The Disaster Artist. She was also Sadie in New Girl and voices Devin in Big Mouth.

Baron Vaughn As Bud

On this show, there is another adopted son who belongs to Frankie and Sol: Nwabudike “Bud” Bergstein. He is a lawyer, he just got married to Allison Giampietro-Smikowitz (who is coming up next), and he is portrayed by Baron Vaughn.

This comedian and actor was a party goer in Cloverfield from 2008, Tom Servo in Mystery Science Theater 3000 from 2017, and Donatello in Batman vs. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles from 2019. He has also appeared on a range of television series such as Law & OrderandGirls.

Lindsey Kraft As Allison 

As mentioned, Bud is married in this series, and he is married to a woman named Allison Giampietro-Smikowitz. She is an interesting woman, with lots of quirks, and she is played by Lindsey Kraft. 

In 2007, she was Rogue in Epic Movie, and in 2018, she was Tobey in Nostalgia. This actress, writer and model has also been in several other notable shows (dramas and comedies) over the years, such as Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, The Sopranos, Desperate Housewives and The Big Bang Theory.  

Geoff Stults As Mitch

A final character to know from Grace and Frankie would be Mitch, who used to be married to Mallory. He is portrayed by Geoff Stults.

Previously, he was a football player in Bring It On Again in 2004. He was Craig Garthe in Wedding Crashers in 2005. He was Cam in She’s Out of My League in 2010. And he has had roles on TV shows like Everybody Loves Raymond, How I Met Your Mother and 7th Heaven, when he played Ben Kinkirk, Mary’s ex-boyfriend, from 2001 to 2006.
