In this Gran Turismo 7 guide, we’ll be going over how to gain access to tuning and customizing vehicles.
How to Tune Cars in Gran Turismo 7’s Tuning Shop
As races get more and more challenging, you may need to perform some tweaks and upgrades by tuning your car to keep up with your opponents. Tuning isn’t available at the start, but it will be unlocked as you progress through the campaign. You will get access to the Tuning Shop by completing the European Classic Compacts Menu 3 in the GT Café. This will let you visit the tuning shop through the world map to upgrade your car.
There are plenty of tuning options to choose from, but weight reduction (Stage 1) and tire upgrades are always excellent choices that show great results on the track. In general, you’ll want to get the upgrades that increase your PP (Power Points) level while also meeting the race requirements. As such, it is best to be selective with your upgrades and not to go overboard with tuning right away.
How to Unlock GT Auto and Customize Cars
In addition to tuning, Gran Turismo 7 allows you to customize your car’s look and perform maintenance through GT Auto. There are tons of different cosmetic options to play around with, such as decals, body modifications, paints, and more. GT Auto also allows you to change oil, repair your car and perform general maintenance between races.
Just like with the Tuning Shop, you will need to unlock access to GT Auto before being able to customize your cars. This can be done by progressing through the early stages of the game. Once you reach the Mini-Cooper S ’65 challenge, simply complete it to gain access to GT Auto on your World Map. From there, you will be able to change the look of your cars in order to race with style.
And that’s all you need to know on how to tune and customize cars to your liking in Gran Turismo 7. For more on GT7, make sure to keep an eye out for our upcoming guides and our review.
