Season 10 of The Great British Baking Show is chugging along. With weekly episodes released on Netflix, viewers at home and abroad can watch in nail-biting suspense as contestants fight to be the last baker standing.
This year, 13 bakers compete in the tent, rising to the many challenges set by judges Prue Leith and Paul Hollywood like their delicious loaves rise in the oven during bread week. Some will fail and some will succeed, but all will hope for a coveted Paul Hollywood handshake to serve as affirmation that their hard work paid off. As with any year, certain Season 10 contestants stand out more than others. Whether it’s their quirky personality or their stunning baking talent, certain contestants linger in our hearts and minds as the most beloved competitors of the season. If you’re struggling to remember the most popular faces, we’ve done it for you. Here are Season 10’s strongest contestants, ranked.
6. Rosie
Rosie lives with her husband and lots of animals in a rural location, which happens to inspire many of her bakes. While her creativity stands out in her creations, her personality gets lost in the shuffle. She’s relatively quiet and seems to keep to herself on camera, though she appears to be plenty friendly with the other contestants. Despite her straightforward approach, she’s clearly a competitor to watch this season. She ran into a few hiccups, but she always manages to pull it out in the end and impress the judges. We love her no-nonsense approach, but we wish we could get a better grasp on who she is beyond her bakes.
5. David
As a health advisor, David understandably loves fitness, so he uses many healthy substitutes in his baking. Although we were initially nervous about his approach, he proved himself to be knowledgeable enough to produce yummy treats with health-friendly ingredients. He steps outside of the box with his ideas, and his methodical approach results in some truly incredible bakes. We love his personality, but he doesn’t stand out like some of his other competitors. However, we’re still crossing our fingers and rooting for his success.
4. Alice
Alice is a 28-year-old geography teacher from Essex. Although she spends her days wrangling distracted high school students, she’s known for her own messy approach to baking. Her work station is always a disaster, but somehow she manages to produce decent creations week after week. She’s always happy and bubbly, even if the week isn’t going that well. We appreciate her positive approach to the competition, making her one of our favorite Season 10 contestants. More than that, her baking skills are obvious. She’s still going strong in the competition and continues to produce creations that impress the judges, even if she flops in some of the technical challenges.
3. Henry
Henry is a beautifully lovable Season 10 character. He’s smart and he doesn’t take himself too seriously - the perfect combination to bring a dose of wit to the show. He happily roots for his other contestants, even going so far as to state that he wants other people to win above himself. In addition, he’s truly a talented baker. His creations are visually appealing and - according to the judges - they often taste good as well. He also provided some truly great entertainment when he told Paul Hollywood to shut up, a moment that made the king himself laugh. Henry adds a dose of fun to the show, so we can’t help but love him.
2. Michael
Although he consistently fails in the technical challenges, Michael still stands as a Season 10 fan favorite. Much like Henry, this 26-year-old has an air of innocence and fun that makes him a joy to watch. Although he tends to get overwhelmed during the harder parts of the British competition, he refuses to give up. In fact, his tendency to break down enhances our compassion, making us even more hopeful that he’ll succeed. He’s human and flawed, but he approaches each aspect of the competition with a positive attitude. For that, he’ll always be one of our favorites.
1. Steph
Steph is this season’s standout baker. She won Star Baker two weeks in a row and consistently establishes herself in the upper echelon of competitors. Despite her constant success, Steph appears to be totally clueless regarding her own talent. The other bakers always root for her success, probably because she’s so humble and grateful every time her bake receives a good review. Not only is she the person to beat this season, she’s a lovable character who has the support of her peers and the viewers.
